LETTER TO ALL PARENTS:

St Augustines Scout & Guide Headquarters

SJF’

St John Fisher, 56 Begbrook Park, Frenchay, Bristol, BS16 1NF

42nd Kingswood Scouts                                                                                 23rd Kingswood Guides

We are on the move to SJF

Dear Parents

You may well remember that at our AGM last May we announced that Fr Frank has very kindly offered us the use of St John Fisher in Frenchay as our scout & guide headquarters and for us to hold our weekly unit meetings there. After explaining some of the reasons why the move was being considered, the response we received from you as parents was favourable towards it.

However, before it could take place, it was dependent on a certain things happening & this has taken some time to achieve.

Some structural changes to the building itself were required.

We needed to obtain & install suitable storage capacity for each unit.

We needed to meet & inform the neighbours of St John Fisher of what was being proposed.

These things have now been completed & in particular I am pleased to report that the neighbours on the whole are favourable towards us using St John Fisher.

So the move can now take place – and so it is our intention to actually move in during the week of the school holiday in February and that consequently commencing from week beginning

Monday 20th February unit meetings from then on will be held in St John Fisher in Frenchay.

What does this mean to St Augustine’s?

First & foremost, the units are still very much part of St Augustine’s parish. Monthly church parades will still take place & there will be times when unit events will take place at St Augustine’s. The relocation to St John Fisher is purely a practical issue for the weekly meetings as it offers us opportunities which at the moment are restricted to us at St Augustine’s.

Like in any move, I am sure there will be some teething troubles but please bear with us whilst we settle in.

We hope that you approve of this move but if you do have any specific queries, please refer them direct to your unit leaders.

Yours in Scouting & Guiding

Graham Williams – Group Scout Leader on behalf of all the Leaders

St. John Fisher

Letter drafted for parents advising change of meeting place effective following Spring mid-term break w/c 13/02/12.

·        Alter screening underway, unit cupboards installed and neighbours consultation held.

·        Fire brigade advise no alterations required to fire exit other than correct signage.  Units will cover evacuation procedures and fire drills during meetings at SJF.

·        Internal shelving in new Tre-lys will be transferred to open storage area in SJF once free and cleared of rubbish.

·        Cleaning will be the responsibility of the Units, materials and equipment are available in the hall.

Outstanding Items

·        Access – Myra to meet with Father Frank to discuss requirement for key safe on-site at SJF and access during Spring term to transfer equipment from new Tre-lys.

·        Rubbish – Myra to discuss removal of redundant radiators etc. with Father Frank.

·        External storage – subject to planning permission, requirements and options to be reviewed once in situ at SJF.  New Tre-lys shed – will not be transferred to SJF due to planning restrictions.  Awaiting confirmation from the Quartet foundation that the association may gift/sell to another youth organisation.  Downend Saints are potentially interested and the school would be supportive.
